Working With My Dentist

A few years ago, I realized that I was thinking about dental care all wrong. Instead of listening carefully to my dentist and making the necessary changes, I assumed that he was ultimately responsible for making sure that my teeth stayed healthy. Unfortunately, I developed a few serious cavities because I failed to properly brush and floss my teeth, and I knew that it was my fault. I decided to start taking notes at my dental checkups and carefully abiding by the dentist's orders. The difference was almost miraculous. This blog is all about working with your dentist to improve your result.

3 Things A Cosmetic Dentist Can Do To Help You Feel More Confident With Your Teeth

Some of the first things that people see when they talk with you are your teeth. Because of this, it is important that you feel confident with your teeth. If you are someone who doesn't currently like the way that your teeth look, then you may want to consider visiting a cosmetic dentist. Here are three things a cosmetic dentist can do to help you to feel more confident with your teeth.

Dental Crowns

If you have one or more teeth that are missing entirely, this can really affect the way that you feel about yourself. Thankfully, this is something that your cosmetic dentist can help you with. Using a combination of dental implants and crowns, your dentist can fill in the areas where your teeth are missing with new teeth made of porcelain that has been fused to metal. This creates a tooth that is strong, secure, and aesthetically appealing.

Teeth Whitening

Another important procedure that a cosmetic dentist can perform for you is teeth whitening. Many people are not happy with the off-white or sometimes yellow-ish tint to their teeth, and they instead want teeth that are bright, white, and stain-free. Most cosmetic dentists have two methods of teeth whitening that they offer to their patients. The first method includes creating teeth molds for your teeth. You are then sent home with a whitening gel to place in the teeth molds and put on your teeth once or twice per day. The second method is often a bit more expensive, but is much shorter. It involves spending a couple of hours at the cosmetic dentist office while a special laser is used to whiten your teeth. Both methods are safe and effective, so you have the comfort of knowing that you can get the results that you want either way.

Veneers

If you don't like the look and shape of your teeth in general, whether it be because you feel they are too short, too narrow, misshapen, etc., then veneers are an excellent option for you to consider. Veneers are essentially porcelain shells that are placed on your teeth. Your cosmetic dentist will carefully grind down each natural tooth so that the veneer can be placed successfully on top. Once the veneers are bonded to your teeth, they will look and function just as your normal teeth. However, since the teeth are made to look exactly how you want them to, you will feel much more confident when others see your teeth.

Whether you want to add teeth where you have none, whiten your teeth, or simply improve the overall appearance of your teeth, the cosmetic dentist is the professional to go to.
